ABOUT

... my fitness journey

What many personal trainers may not disclose is that they too have faced struggles with health and fitness. They've experienced moments of feeling lost, unmotivated, and uncertain about understanding their own bodies.

For years, I wandered in the dark, clueless about what my body truly needed. As a naturally skinny guy (ectomorph body type), bombarded with stereotypes about how men ‘should’ look, I followed the crowd, disregarding how to train properly and ignoring my food allergies in a desperate attempt to ‘bulk up’. The result? IBS, a myriad of intolerances - and unsurprisingly, no lasting results! I found myself trapped in a cycle of forcing my body to gain weight and then resorting to drastic dieting to shed unwanted body fat, ultimately losing any muscle gains I had made in the process.

However, after completing a Level 2 & 3 Fitness and Personal Training course, and delving deep into the realm of nutrition, I eliminated certain foods and discovered what my body thrived on - recognising that this will vary for each individual.

After experimenting with a vegan diet for some time, I now follow a vegetarian lifestyle (occasionally indulging in fish). Coupled with a more dynamic workout routine that helped me maintain consistency (a key factor here). And so I find myself today, at 31, feeling fitter and more alive than I ever did at 21.

I’ve embarked on this venture because I am genuinely passionate about sharing the lessons I've learned on my personal journey, and to hopefully help you navigate through the noise and understand that there's no singular, narrow path to fitness. This journey is tailored with you in mind.

My aim is to provide honest and authentic fitness advice, promote body positivity, and offer personalised training to help you achieve your goals according to YOUR body type.

I firmly believe that looking good and embracing the shape you were born with can go hand in hand!

The Three Body Types

The inclusion of well-known individuals is simply a common reference point. It's important to recognise that while there are three distinct body types, individuals exist on a spectrum within this framework. Even among those considered mesomorphs, physical differences can vary significantly. Remember, you are unique within this spectrum. It's also worth noting that the individuals mentioned likely have their own trainers as well.

ECTOMORPH

Defining Characteristics: Ectomorphs typically have a lean and slender build with narrow shoulders and hips. They tend to have a fast metabolism, making it challenging for them to gain weight or muscle mass. Ectomorphs often have a "linear" appearance, with long limbs and minimal body fat.

Examples:

Timothy Chalamet - Known for his slender physique and angular features, Chalamet exemplifies the ectomorph body type with his lean build and minimal body fat.

Kylie Jenner - Jenner's slender frame, narrow hips, and small bone structure align with the characteristics of an ectomorph. Despite her ability to maintain a slim figure, she may find it difficult to build significant muscle mass.

MESOMORPH

Defining Characteristics: Mesomorphs are characterized by a naturally athletic and well-proportioned physique. They typically have broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and a muscular build. Mesomorphs tend to respond well to exercise, gaining muscle mass relatively easily while also maintaining low body fat levels.

Examples:

Chris Hemsworth - Hemsworth's muscular and proportionate physique exemplifies the mesomorph body type. With broad shoulders, defined muscles, and a strong frame, he embodies the classic athletic build.

Jessica Biel - Biel's toned muscles, narrow waist, and athletic physique make her a prime example of a female mesomorph. She maintains a fit and muscular appearance with relative ease.

ENDOMORPH

Defining Characteristics: Endomorphs typically have a softer and more rounded body shape with a higher percentage of body fat. They often have a wider waist, hips, and bone structure, making it easier for them to gain weight. Endomorphs may struggle to lose fat but tend to build muscle mass more easily.

Examples:

Chris Pratt - Pratt's stocky build and tendency to carry weight around his midsection align with the characteristics of an endomorph. While he can build muscle mass, he may also find it challenging to maintain a lean physique.

Beyoncé - Beyoncé's curvaceous figure and fuller body shape exemplify the endomorph body type. Despite her muscular build and strength, she has a tendency to retain curves and body fat, characteristic of endomorphs.
